January 2020, Update

Updated: Dec 14, 2023

We wish you all a Happy, Safe and Prosperous New Year.

Because of your help we were able to send out 110 gifts, October – December and a total 377for the year of 2019, to 12 Hopi Villages and 15 New Mexico Pueblos. This was our largest year ever and look forward to increasing that in 2020.

I have been looking for more Donors and have visited many meetings of Parrot & Macaw owners including the Parrot Festival in Houston Texas and the AFA Conference in Tampa Florida. Looking forward to the upcoming molt season this year to produce a significant volume of feathers to be able to increase the number of gifts we can send out and hopefully reduce the waiting period for feathers to fill orders from the 10-12 months that we’ve experienced in the past 2-3 years.

I’m looking forward to meeting with Bennett Hennessey of the Asociacion Armonia Bolivia/Laney Rickman Blue-Throated Macaw Reserve in Houston the end of this month at the Parrot Festival to further discuss the “Amazon Connection” program. If you recall we are looking at sending molted Parrot and Macaw feathers to Bennett in Bolivia to distribute among the Indigenous Tribes to replace feathers from birds they hunt for feathers. We are hoping to get this program started the first or second quarter of this year.

We sincerely thank all our Donors for your participation in this endeavor to help Native Americans continue in their rich Cultures & Traditions and also helping to save Wild Parrots & Macaws of Latin America, “One feather at a time”.

Thanks,

Steven James
